The Tweed Jacket

With Fashion week well underway, we are in the mood for a change of season. And although we love seeing spring frocks flood the runways, we are ready for a cool down. We've had a bit of our own fashion week right here at Rogue Vintage with all of our new arrivals and couldn't wait to share a few with you. Although, we have many jackets and coats in the collection there is one style that really speaks to my heart...the tweed jacket. The mastermind who proved this style would stick forever was a lady we all know and love.

While I would happily don one of her iconic pieces daily, I (and my wallet) somehow could never justify it while riding through carpool line, taking the dog to the vet, and going to Target. I could however, rock these little numbers all day long!

Pair them with your favorite skinny jeans, leather leggings or pencil skirt and go!

Savoir-Flair Blog

Have you had a chance to check out our dear friend Lindsey's blog? Well let us introduce you!

Savoir-Flair is the ultimate styling guide for any gal looking to put a spin on her everyday ho-hum wardrobe options.  The Rogue Vintage duo has much in common with our fellow blogger and friend. Not only is Lindsey obsessed with vintage anything, she often finds inspiration for her wardrobe between the pages of an Elle Decor. One of our favorite posts she did was based on the Beverly Hills Hotel's Martinique wallpaper!! Who doesn't dream of having a shred of a corner of that paper in their house? But leave it to Lindsey, she took it to the next level. If you can't slap it on your walls, you sure can make a fabulous outfit from it!

Check out the full post here.

Lindsy has a knack for taking you out of your comfort zone without you even knowing it! She pairs great basics with the perfect amount of flair to create the ultimate ensembles...oh, and the added bonus, she always throws in a "look for less." I mean really, what more could you ask for??

Color Blocking

If you have not caught on to the color blocking trend in the last year then you must have been locked away in some dungeon of dowdiness where Vogue is strictly prohibited and you receive forty lashes (with a whip, not extensions) for even uttering the word "runway".

For those who have been in fashion lockup color blocking is, simply put, wearing blocks of color.  Most traditionally people tend to gravitate towards blocking opposites on the color wheel, or complimentary colors.  We are totally loving the pairing of analogous colors, or colors that are close on the color wheel-  particularly red with orange or pink.  Combining bold solid colors is an easy way to make simple dressing chic.  To avoid looking like a Rubik's cube, limit your color combos to  a maximum of three colors and wear neutral accessories.

We have used a fab ruched skirt from the Rogue Vintage collection to create three very simple but powerful looks.  These looks can take you from dinner to dancing to drinks with the girls.  Since we all love to get a bang for our buck we have used complimentary pieces from Forever 21.

Forever 21 Coral Short Sleeve Lace Tee $14.80
Forever 21  Cap Sleeve Fuchsia Blouse  $17.80
Forever 21  Career Jacket in Orange $27.80

With the grand total of all three looks coming in under $175 you will still have cash for fun jewels or another round with the girls!  Take your pick.

Peach Martini   Complimentary, if you know how to work it.

We hope that you have all had a great weekend!  Don't forget to watch the Oscars tonight.  We will certainly be glued to our sofas with champagne in hand.

Till Next Time,
Tricia and Jennings

Tangerine Tango

There is a new girl in town and she is ready to spice up your 2012. Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango was appointed 2012 color of the year and she is up for the challenge.

In fact, she has already leapt into the role on runways...

 the most fashionable of fingernails...
Chanel 307 Orange Fizz

and of course, at Rogue Vintage.

This freshly squeezed hue packs a big punch.  “Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. The result? “A high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
So whether you are planning for warmer days ahead or searching for the perfect party dress, we have you covered in this hot hue that is sure to put a little pep in your step.

Capricorn Style: Classic

So if anyone has even glanced at our website, you would have to be blind to not notice that we have a certain affinity for Zodiac signs.  More like an obsession, really.  The zodiac signs themselves are so beautiful but we also find the principles behind astrology to be fascinating.  Each month, we will feature the zodiac for that given period and a little style profile for how that particular sign is inclined to dress.  In addition, we will highlight a few pieces from the Rogue Vintage collection as astrological inspiration.

One reading and you will be hooked- we swear!  Tricia, being the "dark one" was sucked in immediately after reading that she likes to dress to intimidate and has a closet full of...GASP....sequined tops!  How true!  Jennings, being the "youthful and carefree" counterpart to the Rogue Vintage duo truly does prefer casual comfortable clothing in bright colors and family mementos to flashy rocks.  But more on the RV Scorpio and Sagittarius later this year....

For this month (yes, we are on the tail end of this sun sign but better late than never!) we are featuring lady Capricorn.  Born December 22nd to January 20th, this reliable woman is ruled by responsibility and hard work.  Less is usually more for this minimalist sign.  Clothing is an investment for her so she focuses on the American classics and not the latest fads.  She will stun in quality pieces that stand the test of time.

CAPRICORN SYMBOL:  The Goat
GEMSTONE:  Garnet
LOOK:  Timeless Classic
BEST COLORS:  Black, forest green, gray, earthy browns
FABRICS:  Wool, cashmere, flannel
STYLE STAPLES:  Traditional patterns like plaids and checks, well tailored suits, and chunky sweaters
STEP IT UP:  Menswear inspired looks (think button downs, tuxedo shirts, ties), wellies, luxury men's watches, riding boots and equestrian looks
DIAL IT DOWN:  Bright colors, loud patterns, ruffles, fake gems, animal prints, anything CHEAP

Our fave lady Cappie of the moment is the always classic Kate Middleton.  Here are a few of her signature looks and similar pieces from the Rogue Vintage collection.  To see the pieces for sizing, etc. visit http://www.roguevintage.com/ or click the direct links highlighted in red.

Hope you have enjoyed our very first, very tortured blog post.  Our New Year's resolution was to get the blog up and running and we are only two weeks "fashionably" late.  We promise bigger, better, and more timely things to come for 2012!

Till Next Time,
